To help facilitate this and provide career development guidance, WashU’s HR Recruitment Team created a dedicated Recruitment Career Advancement Lead. This position supports employees in their career progression, fostering their growth and encouraging them to remain with WashU long-term. The Recruitment Career Advancement Lead serves as a resource for employees by providing guidance and support for career development and promoting internal mobility. Additionally, this role provides assistance to employees who are displaced due to factors, such as loss of grant funding, departure of principal investigator, or departmental restructuring.
Additional services of the Recruitment Career Advancement Lead:
- Provides HR services in support of organizational goals, such as promoting from within, proactive placement of displaced employees, promoting diversity, and consultation to university employees in support of inter- and intra-departmental transfers
- Understands the importance of personal career interests, skills, and workplace values that are consistent with the mission and goals of the university
- Identifies methods of acquiring desired skills and experience needed for career advancement
- Provides guidance to employees by assessing and evaluating their skills and explaining how to explore job opportunities within the university, including assistance with navigating the Jobs Hub in Workday
- Offers review, feedback, and recommendations on resume and cover letter writing
- Provides employees with the skills and strategies to excel in interviews
