Job Posting Guidelines
A current list of open positions can be found through our career portal at jobs.wustl.edu. Regular staff positions must be posted for a minimum of five (5) business days and all supervisory and management positions must be posted for a minimum of ten (10) business days before an offer of employment can be made.
The university does not require that all vacant positions be posted. Some instances where a job posting may not be necessary include when an employee within the immediate area, department or school receives a promotion or makes a lateral move; when a temporary employee fills a regular full-time position; or when an employee returning from leave fills a regular full-time position (see the Family and Medical Leave policy for information regarding the employer obligations when returning from leave). This is not an all-inclusive list, but is intended to provide some guidance to determine when positions may be filled without a job posting. If you are not certain whether you must post a vacant position, contact the primary recruiter and/or the Director of Recruitment.
