Feedback is essential for growth and development, yet the act of offering and soliciting feedback is one that many people avoid. No one particularly likes to listen to what they’re doing wrong, and it can be hard to hear constructive criticism without becoming defensive. Giving feedback isn’t always easy either, it often feels uncomfortable and most people were never taught the skills to engage in tough conversations.

The truth can hurt, but it doesn’t have to. During this workshop participants will be challenged to rewire their negative associations with feedback into positive ones. This workshop is highly interactive, featuring group discussions, breakout sessions and role-play activities.

What you’ll learn:

  • The value of feedback and a growth mindset
  • How the brain processes feedback and the psychological aspects of feedback
  • How to craft and deliver feedback that is actionable and encouraging
  • How to accept feedback without taking it personally or creating conflict

What you’ll practice:

  • Overcoming discomfort and providing value by delivering and responding to feedback in a variety of situations
  • Giving feedback using facts and observations
  • Role-playing common feedback scenarios that may happen at the office, in a low-pressure and non-threatening environment

Competencies: Communication; Collaboration and Teamwork; Self-Awareness; Valuing Diversity and Inclusion
