Embark on a transformative learning experience focused on strategic thinking and action with our inclusive course. Tailored to foster essential characteristics and skills for strategic thinking, this program explores the intricacies of strategic thinking. Participants will refine their ability to analyze situations, anticipate future trends, and make data-driven decisions. They will cultivate a strategic mindset characterized by creativity, adaptability, and forward-thinking. Moreover, participants will have the chance to apply theory into practice by crafting strategic plans through strategic planning and action. Engaging in hands-on exercises and real-life situations, learners will enhance proficiency in setting clear objectives, prioritizing tasks, and implementing strategic initiatives. Whether new to leadership or seasoned professionals, this course offers valuable insights to navigate through uncertain situations with greater ease and assurance and contribute to organizational growth in today’s dynamic higher education landscape.
Participants will:
- Identify characteristics of Strategic Thinking
- Explore behavioral traits essential for strategic thinkers
- Identify creativity and visualization skills that facilitate strategic thinking
- Recognize methods of improving strategic thinking
- Create a strategic plan for real-life situations through case study

Audience: This class is for all Washington University in St. Louis staff employees (Leading Self, Others, or the Organization)
Facilitator: Juman Al Bukhari, PhD, EdD, Senior Consultant, HR Learning and Development
With a background in professorship, research, and expertise in higher education leadership, along with a doctorate in the field, Juman enjoys delivering, facilitating, and teaching courses that develop WashU employees’ critical thinking, creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills. She incorporates theory and practice into her teaching to allow for practical exploration of real-life situations. Additionally, she actively fosters collaboration and strives to achieve organizational goals aligned with WashU’s mission and vision.
