Emotional intelligence (EI) plays a critical role in our personal and professional relationships. This course serves as an introduction to the fundamental concepts and practices of emotional intelligence, providing learners with a comprehensive understanding of its significance in personal and professional development. According to researcher Daniel Goleman, there are four key components that make up emotional intelligence. Throughout the course learners will explore these various components of emotional intelligence.

  •  4 Key Components of Emotional Intelligence
  •  Importance in Relationships & the Workplace

By the end of the course, participants will have gained a deeper understanding of emotional intelligence and developed practical skills to enhance their self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, and relationship awareness abilities. Participants will be better equipped to navigate social and professional interactions with greater insight, empathy, and effectiveness, ultimately leading to improved personal and organizational outcomes.

Class Duration: 3 hours, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Facilitator: Natasha Tasson, Organization Development Consultant, Office of Human Resources

Natasha is a consultant with the Organization Development team with Washington University in the Office of Human Resources. She has progressive experience leading the human resources function in a multitude of areas including; Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Organizational Development, Leadership Development, Succession Management, Performance Management and Rewards. She has worked for several multibillion-dollar corporations that operate across multiple geographies. Natasha has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of industries including Aerospace and Defense, Sports and Entertainment, Professional Services, Higher Education, and Non-for-Profit. Natasha has been in a multitude of roles, and she most recently led the entire HR lifecycle for another university. These experiences enable her to have a robust understanding of human resources and how the function enables the institution. Natasha holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management.

An important note: This session is being held in-person at the Link in the Loop building.
