This course is a part of the “Mind Your Growth” mini-series, a set of dynamic 60-minute sessions designed to equip you with fresh in-demand skills just in time for the new year. Whether you’re looking to grow your leadership capabilities, boost your professional toolkit, prepare for new opportunities, or kick-start a new habit, these sessions are tailored to support your personal and professional development goals.
Course Description:
In today’s dynamic and fast-paced world, leadership is no longer just about holding a title—it’s about embodying a clear and impactful leadership philosophy. In this interactive mini-session, participants will define their leadership philosophy, identify their core values, and discover the behaviors and actions that shape extraordinary leaders. Whether you’re in the early stages of your leadership journey or are looking to refine your approach, this session will provide the tools and inspiration to align your leadership presence with your personal values. You’ll walk away empowered with a renewed sense of purpose and practical strategies to lead with impact.
In this 60-minute mini-session, participants will be able to:
- Define their personal leadership philosophy by reflecting on their beliefs, principles, and vision as a leader.
- Identify and articulate their core values, understanding how these values influence their leadership style and decision-making process.
- Recognize key behaviors, actions, and attributes that distinguish extraordinary leaders and explore how to integrate these traits into their own leadership practice.
- Draft a personalized leadership brand blueprint that includes actionable steps to align their daily behaviors and decisions with their leadership brand.

As the director of Washington University’s human resources, learning and development, Carla is responsible for setting the strategic direction, developing, and delivering University-wide leadership, management, and professional development programs associated with enhancing leaders’ and employees’ capabilities, organizational culture, and personal and professional effectiveness. For more than three decades, Carla has been helping organizations and leaders achieve their full potential- coaching, facilitating, and speaking on transformational leadership development. Carla is a certified executive and leadership coach with a B.S. in Organizational Management, an M.A. in Leadership and Organizational Development, and an MBA from Washington University Olin Business School.

No-Show and Late Cancellation Fees: Cancellations received less than five (5) business days prior to scheduled class will result in a $50 cancellation fee charged to their department. If you’re no longer able to attend, please drop your registration in Workday Learning.
