WashU Medicine staff are invited to attend the 2024 Staff Appreciation Lunch on Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Couch Park!
Enjoy a catered to-go meal or grab it to go along with other WashU Medicine staff! Ted Drewes ice cream, photo opportunities, and activities will be available on Couch Lawn. An exclusive discount at the WashU Bookstore will be available on Sept. 19 for WashU Medicine staff.

Event Schedule
- 11 a.m. | Activities begin:
- To-go meals (menu below), Ted Drewes and popcorn service
- Yard and giant games on Couch Lawn
- Photo booths available
- Mingle with WashU Police Department support dogs and local sporting team mascots
- 2 p.m. | Event ends
NOTE: This event is not a sanctioned day off. Staff must return to work after the event or use vacation time.
Please bring your WashU ID Badge with you to receive your meal and dessert. The event will take place rain or shine. Email HRevents@wustl.edu with questions.
Correction: A previous invitation noted Chancellor Martin would be in attendance at the event. He is no longer able to join due to last minute required travel.
Event FAQs
Kenrick’s Catering will cater this event and the menu will include pulled brisket, pulled chicken, veggies burgers, pasta salad and cucumber tomato salad.
Ted Drewes will provide chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream.
Water and iced tea will be available for refreshments. You are welcome to bring your own water bottle to fill up at the event.
For staff who notated the need for a special Halal or Kosher meal on the RSVP form, please proceed to the buffet line. Special tables will be set up with the Halal and Kosher meals.
Halal meals will be provided by Balkan Treat Box.
Kosher meals will be provided by Gokul Restaurant.
Staff are encouraged to attend the event and should work with their managers to adjust schedules to ensure all wishing to attend can do so while still maintaining effective staffing at service points.
Exempt staff can attend during their typical lunch but are not required to submit an absence request in Workday.
Non-exempt staff should use HR Time Approved Time off while at the event. This is paid time. Work with your supervisor to manage area coverage.

- Pulled smoked chicken in sauce box with sides: cucumber, tomato, and onion salad, mayonnaise potato salad, and dinner roll
- Smoked beef brisket in KC style sauce with sides: cucumber, tomato, and onion salad, mayonnaise potato salad, and dinner roll
- Garden vegetable burger (vegan) with sides: cucumber, tomato, and onion salad and Lay’s potato chips (includes vegan bun)
- Person picking up and WashU Email
- Pick-up time
- WashU Medicine department name
Pick up will be in the Radiology parking lot off of Scott Ave by East McDonnell Facility. Scott Ave. itself will be closed off for pedestrian traffic. We will have a dedicated pick- up line. There will be volunteers and signs to help direct you.
The event will take place rain or shine.
