We have revitalized staff recognition based on feedback to thank our dedicated staff through in-person staff appreciation events, in-person and digital length of service programming, staff distinguished honor awards, and through our digital recognition platform. Learn more on the Culture & Community Hub.

Pick up a raffle ticket at the Welcome Booth upon arrival to be entered to win an attendance prize. Tickets will be drawn every 30 minutes at the DJ booth. Please note: you must be present to win. A photographer will be on-site to capture photos throughout the event for use in future event programming. The event will take place rain or shine, and we will utilize Mudd Field as a backup location should Tisch Park be inaccessible. Please email HRevents@wustl.edu with questions.

Event FAQs

Where should I park?

The Danforth and CFU Staff Appreciation Lunch on Tuesday, September 24th is expected to increase campus activity. As you make your way to the East End, we recommend using a smart commuting option like Shuttle Transportation. Several shuttles are available to help staff navigate campus and enjoy the festivities.

The East End parking garage is expected to be full due to daily use, so driving to the event is discouraged if possible. Please consider using the Campus Circulator, Delmar DiVINE, or West Campus Shuttles for your trip.

You can find the shuttle schedules on WashU’s Campus Shuttle System website and get live location shuttle tracking with real-time arrival times using the TripShot app.

What is the lunch menu?

Kenrick’s catering will provide the buffet lunch. The menu will include pulled brisket, pulled chicken, veggies burgers and two cold sides.

Ted Drewes will provide chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream. Sugarwitch will provide assorted ice cream sandwiches, which will include vegan options.

Water, lemonade and iced tea will be available for refreshments. You are welcome to bring your own water bottle to fill up at the event.

I ordered a Halal or Kosher meal. Where should I pick it up?

For staff who notated the need for a special Halal or Kosher meal on the RSVP form, please proceed to the buffet line. Special tables will be set up with the Halal and Kosher meals.

Halal meals will be provided by Balkan Treat Box.

Kosher meals will be provided by Gokul Restaurant.

How should I clock out for lunch?

Staff are encouraged to attend the event and should work with their managers to adjust schedules to ensure all wishing to attend can do so while still maintaining effective staffing at service points.

Exempt staff can attend during their typical lunch but are not required to submit an absence request in Workday.

Non-exempt staff should use HR Time Approved Time off while at the event. This is paid time. Work with your supervisor to manage area coverage.

Where can I use the restroom?

Restrooms are located in McKelvey, Jubel, Sumers Welcome Center and Weil buildings.

What happens if it rains on the event date?

The event will take place rain or shine.

Will students be in attendance at this event?

No, this event is intended for WashU staff as a way to say thank you and recognize their commitment to the institution.
