Missouri Saving for Tuition Program – MO$T

The Missouri Saving for Tuition (MOST) program is a flexible higher education savings program. Faculty and Staff of Washington University have the opportunity to make contributions to a MOST account through direct deposit for a child, grandchild or other family members. The MOST program offers:

  • Missouri state income tax deduction of up to $8,000 annually
  • Investment earnings that grow both state and federally tax-free
  • Qualified expenses that include tuition, fees, certain room and board, books, supplies and equipment
  • Use of funds at any eligible post secondary institution in the country toward qualified expenses including, but not limited to, tuition, fees and books
  • Initial minimum contribution of only $25 with an on-line application, or $15 per account / per pay period, through payroll direct deposit

How to Enroll

Online Enrollment - takes 10 minutes to complete documentation

  • Step 1 - Follow online enrollment instructions at www.missourimost.org/content/home.html
  • Step 2 - Enter payroll deduction information and print Payroll Deduction Authorization form
  • Step 3 - Submit Payroll Deduction Authorization form to the Payroll Department, Campus Box 1000

Paper Enrollment - approx. 3 weeks processing period.

  • Step 1 - Request or download enrollment kit from www.missourimost.org/content/home.html or call 888-414-MOST
  • Step 2 - Complete plan application and select Payroll Deduction as the method of funding
  • Step 3 - Submit application to MOST (address on form)
  • Step 4 - Once the application is processed the employee will receive a completed Payroll Deduction Authorization form mail, this form should be sent to the Payroll Department, Campus Box 1000

Once enrolled, the direct deposit process may take two payroll cycles to become effective. The first pay cycle is set up as a "test" run. If the account is set up properly and ready to receive deposits, the deposit will actually be sent during the following pay cycle. The direct deposit will appear on your payroll advise as a deposit to Mellon Bank.
